What up, world?
This is my training journal, and today is Wednesday, August 20th. Day four of the Just Do Ten Burpee Challenge.
When I first stepped into this challenge, I knew it wasn’t just about fitness. It was about accountability. It was about movement. It was about connecting with others who want to push past comfort zones and discover what they’re capable of.
Why Burpees? Why Ten?
Burpees are one of the simplest, most brutal, and most effective exercises in the world. They work your entire body, demand your lungs, and leave you no space to hide from yourself.
But here’s the thing — I’m not asking you to do one hundred. I’m not asking you to run a marathon tomorrow. I’m saying: Just do ten.
Ten is the spark. Ten is manageable. Ten is the start that leads to the next ten, and the next ten after that. And once you’ve knocked out those first ten, you realize you had more in the tank than you thought.
Accountability Is Everything
Here’s the real reason I record these burpees and share them with you: accountability.
I could sit on the couch for thirty days telling myself, “I’ll do burpees tomorrow.” But by showing you that I actually did them — and challenging you to do them with me — I create a bond with the world. You keep me honest. I keep you moving. That’s our connection.
This is not just about me. It’s about us.
Shoutout to the Queenans
During today’s set, I took a pause to throw out a challenge. I went digging into some basketball history and came across a benchmark: two thousand points and one thousand rebounds. That’s the definition of a proficient big man.
In NCAA Division I history, only about one hundred and ten players have ever hit that mark. Not a lot of people. And then I found something personal — Lehigh University. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. My cousin-in-law Daren Queenan is on that list.
Daren didn’t just hit the benchmark. He blew past it. Beast mode. Over three thousand points at Lehigh. That’s family. That’s legacy. And today, I’m calling him out:
Daren and Carla Queenan, you’re up. Just do ten.
Inspiration from Lisa
My second challenge today is one that hits deep.
Her name is Lisa Colón. Lisa is a partner at a law firm, a badass construction attorney, an adjunct professor, an editor, and right now — she’s training for another marathon.
But here’s the thing: Lisa is only one year out of a heart transplant surgery.
One year. And she’s already back in beast mode, training her body for another marathon. That’s strength. That’s resilience. That’s fire.
Lisa, you inspire me beyond words. Today, I’m challenging you to show me ten burpees. Let’s go.
Why These Challenges Matter
When I put out these challenges, I’m not just throwing names into the wind. I’m connecting dots. I’m calling on family, on friends, on inspirations.
Every burpee I do, I’m carrying not just my weight — but the weight of accountability, the weight of legacy, the weight of inspiration.
Daren, Carla, Lisa — this is for you. This is for every single one of you who needs a nudge, a push, or just a reminder that movement is medicine.
The Heat and the Hustle
It’s ninety-eight degrees right now here in Henderson, Nevada. The sun is blazing, the pavement is hot, and yet, here I am — dripping sweat, breathing heavy, pushing through set after set.
Why? Because the excuses don’t matter. The weather doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is: did you move today?
Navy SEAL Style
I’ll admit, I fumbled on my Navy SEAL adaptation in set two. But that’s part of the journey. Progress is not perfect. It’s messy. It’s sweaty. It’s sometimes off-beat. But as long as you keep going, you’re winning.
I’m not training for an ultramarathon like my man David Goggins. I’m not out here prepping for a triathlon. But I am doing the work, day in and day out, and calling you to join me.
Closing Thoughts
So here’s my reminder: this journey is about small, consistent action. You don’t have to do one hundred today. You don’t have to do fifty. You don’t even have to do twenty.
Just do ten.
Ten will change your life if you let it. Ten will remind you that you are capable. Ten will show you that consistency beats perfection every single time.
Today, my sweat is my signature. My burpees are my commitment. And my challenges are my way of pulling you in, one set, one rep, one day at a time.
Day Four: The Power of Accountability and Inspiration
